I feel so fortunate to often be able to schedule work so we can be on location at times that work for our family life. When my daughter is scheduled to attend day camp at Camp Beech Cliff on Mt. Desert Island in the summer, we are happy to book up a month of work in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor and load up the camper or rent a cottage, to live, even for a few weeks or days, in the woods in my favorite place on Earth. This past summer, we were able to spend almost a whole month on Mt. Desert Island, working, camping, attending day camp, swimming, hiking and cooking, being outside and adventuring in between wedding work is my favorite type of multi tasking.
Sarah & Taylor hired us from upstate New York to plan and design their intimate Acadia National Park area wedding in July, and at first phone call, I was excited to work with them. My daughter attends day camp by day at Camp Beech Cliff and at the end of the week, we produced a cozy, pretty wedding for our clients using elements of nature and Maine foraging in the design.
This was another event I designed the flowers for and I had a great time foraging raspberries and wild blueberries, sword fern and hemlock cones for the arrangements. This color palette might just be my all time favorite: pale pink, deep red, thistle blue, peach and lots of greens.
One of the toddler guests enjoyed eating Maine blueberries out of Taylor’s bouquet, so sweet, edible bouquets!
We suggested Acadia Yurts for the head quarters for the couple’s family and friends to stay for a unique on island experience. A pre ceremony hike on a trail overlooking Echo Lake provided the perfect place for master photographer, Emily Delamater to work her magic in the enchanted forest with these lovely ladies.
