Winters in Maine are long. And cold. And also lovely. Being a Maine native and lifelong resident inspired this concept to create a wintery wedding design with Scandinavian accents with Brea McDonald Photography….Featured in Maine Magazine . A color palette of cardinal red, ice blue, green, honey, black and light gray with accents of natural wood, straw and glass, was a fun and new combination to work with.
I was also inspired by a holiday nativity pyramid passed down in my family. The pyramid is a wooden table-top carousel with several levels, depicting various holiday scenes. The spinning motion of the pyramid is achieved by the rising heat of candles around the base. The warm candlelight and smooth continuous motion of the pyramid echo the rhythm of winter in Maine. With a color palette in keeping with traditional Scandinavian design and small, special touches like the straw ornaments, we built a look incorporating the the feel of the season. The vintage sled and Nordic skis complete the cozy, wintery inspiration, and of course we needed a warm, playfully dressed bride in a Nordic knit sweater and red ski socks! I always like to uncover something about a couple that defines them, the vintage sled, skis and boots were a gift to me handed down from my family, and represent our family’s love of the outdoors, in any season. Outdoorsy, winter lovers take note—this shoot could very well inspire your own celebration.
